ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 19. In February 2025, Kazakhstan received 48,300 remittance transactions totaling 15.8 billion tenge (around $30 million), marking a 0.4 percent increase in quantity but a 0.2 percent decrease in volume compared to January 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from Kazakhstan’s National Bank shows that the primary breadwinners of remittances to Kazakhstan come from Russia, the United States, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and the Republic of Korea.
Russia is still at the helm, pouring in 3.8 billion tenge (around $7.2 million, making up 23.8 percent of the total pie), with the United States trailing behind at 2.3 billion tenge (about $4.4 million, or 14.9 percent) and Uzbekistan not far off at 1.7 billion tenge (roughly $3.2 million, accounting for 10.9 percent).
This confirms Kazakhstan's importance as a financial hub for the CIS countries, as well as the strengthening of economic ties with Western countries. Interestingly, the share of US dollars in these transfers is 60.4 percent of the total volume, highlighting the popularity of this currency among senders and recipients of international remittances.
