BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 24. Kyrgyzstan signed financing agreements totaling $129.11 million for three key projects in the agriculture, energy, and education sectors, Trend reports, citing the Islamic Development Bank.
The agreements were signed between Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank, and Almaz Baketaev, Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan and Alternate Governor of the IsDB.
The first project focuses on promoting agricultural mechanization to improve productivity and rural livelihoods. The second project will finance the construction of electricity transmission lines and substations in Tamga and Karakol, located in the Issyk-Kul region. The third project is aimed at improving access to and quality of inclusive education for all children in the country through the Smart-Education Project.
Al Jasser emphasized that these strategic investments are crucial for driving agricultural productivity, expanding energy access, and fostering inclusive education—key drivers of sustainable growth in Kyrgyzstan.
To date, the IsDB Group has approved $631 million for 89 operations in Kyrgyzstan, focusing on infrastructure development, private sector growth, and international trade. The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), the IsDB's insurance arm, has also provided $48.1 million in business insurance and $0.7 million in new insurance commitments.
The IsDB president and the Kyrgyz delegation also discussed future cooperation prospects in the areas of energy production, water, and sanitation.
