BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. The value of sales on the Iranian Energy Exchange (IRENEX) decreased by 40.3 percent in the last Iranian week (August 2-6) compared to the previous week (July 26-30).
Data obtained by Trend from IRENEX shows that the value of sales during the last Iranian week (August 2-6) amounted to 66.8 trillion rials (about $116 million), marking a significant increase compared to the previous week (112 trillion rials (about $195 million)).
The exchange sold 152,000 tons of hydrocarbon products worth 51.6 trillion rials (about $89.6 million) during this period. Of this total, 125,000 tons of products valued at 42.6 trillion rials (about $74 million) accounted for the international section, while 26,900 tons worth 9 trillion rials (about $15.6 million) - the domestic section of the exchange.
Additionally, the Energy Exchange sold 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity worth 13.3 trillion rials (about $23.2 million).
The value of other sales amounted to 1.9 trillion rials (about $3.3 million).
The sale of hydrocarbon products on Iran's Energy Exchange is of enormous importance. Through the exchange, the country is trying to provide hydrocarbon products needed by local companies, as well as increase exports.
