Recent numerous personal meetings with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad confirmed the high interest of both countries to develop mutually beneficial partnership, Turkmen Leader Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said at the meeting with Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Reza Forqani, who has completed his diplomatic mission to Turkmenistan.
"The Turkmen-Iranian trust relations that grows from year to moved the interstate dialogue at a higher level," the president added.
The significant increases in the volume of trade turnover between the two countries, as well as implementation of joint projects are illustrative examples of it, the Turkmen governmental press service reported.
The countries co-operate on the large-scale projects, such as the North-South transport and communication corridor providing the shortest route to the Persian Gulf, the Dovletabat-Sarahs-Khangeran pipeline that was put into operation in January 2010, which will significantly increase the volume of the Turkmen natural gas supplies to neighboring Iran.
The Iranian diplomat, in turn, stressed the "exceptional interest of his country in building a reliable bridge with Turkmenistan that plays a key role in the geopolitical space of Central Asia."
