Georgia and Austria are building up cooperation in the sectors of transport, communications and information technology, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava met with Austrian Federal Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology Andreas Reichhardt.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy ministers of economy and sustainable development Akaki Sagirashvili and Irakli Nadareishvili, head of the Agency for Innovation and Technology Avtandil Kasradze, head of the Department of Transport Ketevan Salukvadze and Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Georgia Arad Benkö.
During the meeting, it was noted that Georgia and Austria actively and closely cooperate in the political, trade, economic, interparliamentary, law enforcement and other fields.
During the meeting, the sides signed a memorandum on bilateral cooperation in the spheres of transport, communications and information technology and innovation.
The parties emphasized the importance of the activities of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in Georgia, which also helps to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. In this context, the interest of Austrian companies in the investment opportunities of Georgia is growing.
The parties discussed cooperation in areas such as transport, telecommunications, modern technology, innovation and energy, expressing willingness to expand and deepen cooperation in these areas.
It was also noted that the Georgian government is making every effort to develop multimodal transport and regular freight transport between the two countries.
