By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:
FAO project portfolio in Kazakhstan for 2010-2025 totals 38 projects worth $34.4 million, FAO told Trend.
The FAO said that the partnership between Kazakhstan and FAO has been constantly evolving since the country became a member of the Organization in 1997.
FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Kazakhstan is operating based on the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the establishment of an FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in the Republic of Kazakhstan that was ratified by the Parliament in July 2018. Kazakhstan has recently put its emphasis on investments in agriculture, forestry and rural development, and aims to modernize the sector while transitioning to a green economy.
“FAO technical assistance has focused on the sustainable intensification of agricultural production, promoting conservation agriculture, organic farming and sustainable natural resource management, and institutional development and capacity building,” the FAO said.
Thus, the FAO project portfolio in Kazakhstan for 2010-2025 totals 38 projects worth $34.4 million, including 11 completed projects, 6 on-going projects and 21 pipeline projects.
“The current projects in Kazakhstan are focused on the digitalization of agriculture, value chain development, veterinary and phytosanitary safety, sustainable management of fisheries and aquaculture, sustainable management of natural resources, rural development, and improving the efficiency of state institutions,” the FAO said.
