Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.23 / Trend /
BP, which is the operator of the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, has reduced production of light oil on the block when conducting repair works on one of the compressor stations carrying out gas injection into layer, a source in oil and gas market said.
Oil production declined from about 925,000 barrels of oil per day to almost 740,000 barrels, the source said. Production in full amount will be resumed before the end of the week.
Associated gas produced at the fields along with the oil, is partially injected into the layer for pressure maintenance. Oil production is reduced due to the interruption of the compressor station's operation and, accordingly, decrease in pumping volumes.
