SOCAR will complete constructing a new floating rig in Azerbaijan by 2014, SOCAR First Vice-President Khoshbakht Yusifzade said at a meeting of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) today.
"The construction of new rigs is very important from the point of view of discovering new fields," he said. "Currently, all three rigs in Azerbaijan are used to develop existing fields, including Shah Deniz gas condensate field. This delays the process of exploration drilling in promising structures and opening the new fields."
He said that at present, there is a need for rigs to drill in the gas condensate field "Absheron", perspective structure "Babak", "Shafaq-Asiman", "Nakhchivan" and others.
