ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. KazMunayGas’ key facilities, including the Shymkent Oil Refinery, reported strong mid-year output and capacity expansion, signaling continued industrial growth and investment momentum, Trend reports.
This was announced during a working visit of the Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas JSC (KMG), Askhat Khassenov, to the Atyrau region.

According to results from the first half of 2025, the Shymkent Oil Refinery made the largest contribution to total output, processing nearly 3.07 million tons. The yield of light petroleum products at the plant reached 81.72 percent, and the refining depth stood at 88.14 percent. Shymkent Oil Refinery has been tasked with accelerating the implementation of an investment project to expand capacity to 12 million tons.
“A key event of the half-year was the completion of the modernization of the Caspi Bitum LLP plant. The facility can now process up to 1.5 million tons of oil and produce 750,000 tons of bitumen annually. In the two months since resuming operations post-modernization, the plant has already processed over 216,000 tons of oil and produced more than 78,000 tons of bitumen, supplying the country’s road builders with high-quality materials,” the statement said.
The company also noted that the KPI Gas Chemical Complex continues to show stable growth: nearly 220,000 tons of polypropylene were produced in the first half of the year, with 13 grades mastered. Currently, the product lineup includes 15 polypropylene grades (2 of which are undergoing homologation - a conformity assessment to ensure they meet the technological and technical requirements of consumers).
