BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 19. Iran aims to produce 30,000 megawatts of electricity from renewable sources, said Alirza Parandeh Motlag, the Deputy Head of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), Trend reports.
The official noted that Iran hopes to achieve this goal by 2026 and that it currently has a renewable energy capacity of 1,100 megawatts.
He also mentioned that renewable energy plants that can generate 4,500 megawatts of electricity are being installed in the country for the summer season.
Parandeh Motlag added that 381 locations in the country are undergoing solar panel installation, which will have a total capacity of over 10,200 megawatts.
Currently, the power generation capacity of all of Iran's power plants, including thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc., is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
