ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 26. The Chinese seaport of Lianyungang is interested in investing in the construction of a Kazakh container hub, Trend reports.
This was noted during a meeting of the operational working group on the development of cross-border hubs in the government, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.
It was noted that in the sea harbor, two container trains are formed every day towards Kazakhstan. In the future, the construction of a Kazakh dry port in Xi'an will increase the flow of goods to Kazakhstan through Lianyungang.
It was also noted that for the full operation of the Caspian node, it is necessary to increase the capacity of the Beyneu-Mangystau railway section. The construction of an additional seven separate points and double-track inserts is planned.
The volume of container rail transportation in the China-Europe-China direction through the territory of Kazakhstan is growing every year. On the border with China, the formation of the Khorgos - Eastern Gate free economic zone has been fully completed.
In 2014, a logistics terminal was created in the port of Lianyungang with Chinese partners, which today is the main point of consolidation of cargo flows from and to Kazakhstan.
In 2022, Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with China amounted to $24.1 billion, which is 34.1 percent more than a year earlier.
