ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 16. Kazakhstan is implementing a number of large strategic infrastructure projects to ensure an uninterrupted supply of gas to the population, said Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev during a government meeting, Trend reports.
"To ensure an uninterrupted supply of gas to the country's consumers, it is planned to implement large strategic infrastructure projects, including the construction of the second line of the Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent gas pipeline and the Aktobe - Kostanay and Taldykorgan - Usharal gas pipelines," he said.
As Satkaliyev noted, by the end of 2023, 60 percent of the country’s population, or about 12 million people, had obtained access to gas.
"In order to further expand gas supply, 89.3 billion tenge (about $188 million) was allocated from the Republican budget this year. Also, as part of the action plan, the government has allocated an additional 105.4 billion tenge (about $222 million), which will provide gas to more than 300,000 people and modernize more than 1,700 kilometers of gas networks," the minister noted.
In 2023, overall gas production in Kazakhstan totaled 59.063 billion cubic meters, with contributions from Tengiz (16.009 billion cubic meters), Karachaganak (22.385 billion cubic meters), Kashagan (11.856 billion cubic meters), and other fields (8.813 billion cubic meters).
Kazakhstan is projected to produce 60.456 billion cubic meters of raw natural gas in 2024.
