ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 30. The number of payment cards in circulation in Kazakhstan has reached 78.1 million as of July 1, 2024, Trend reports.
According to Kazakhstan's National Bank, the number of payment cards in circulation has increased by approximately 11.5 percent since July 1, 2023 (70 million payment cards).
At the same time, debit cards account for 80 percent of all payment cards in the country, while credit cards account for 15.9 percent. Debit cards with credit limits and prepaid cards account for 4.1 percent of the total.
In addition, as of July 1, 2024, 39.3 million payment cards were used in the country.
Meanwhile, eighteen banks and Kazpost JSC provided payment cards as of July 1, 2024. These organizations issue and distribute Visa International, MasterCard Worldwide, UnionPay International, American Express International, and Diners Club International cards.
In addition, banks in Kazakhstan issue payment cards using local systems: Citibank Kazakhstan (Citibank Kazakhstan JSC) and Kaspi.kz (Kaspi Bank JSC).
