BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. According to the official data, Kyrgyzstan's annual demand for fuel and lubricants is 1.2 million tons, Trend reports citing the WPF October 2022 report.

"Kyrgyzstan imports 90 percent of oil from Russian refineries. Since July 2022, Kyrgyzstan and Russia fully switched to settle payments in Rubles, which led to an increase in fuel prices, supported also by a seasonal increase of export prices," the WFP said.

According to WFP's market update, as of October 7, 2022, retail prices of diesel and fuel (RON-92) in Kyrgyzstan continued to remain stable compared to September 2022. However, compared to October 2021, the prices for RON-92 and diesel increased by 7 percent and 46 percent respectively.

"The Kyrgyz Association of Oil Traders will continue to prevent sharp price changes in the Kyrgyz fuel market by implementing mechanisms to equalize prices to a break-even level, ensuring the necessary reserves of petroleum, oil, and lubricants to saturate the market and avoid shortages," the WFP said.

"Moreover, the Association is tightening the control to prevent infringements of consumer rights due to underfilling of petroleum, oil and lubricants at the filling stations, and they are providing feedback to the Government in case of changes in the market, allowing them to take preventive measures," said the report.
