BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 4. Temporary restrictions on the export of hay, straw, compound feed, bran, and grain feed, including barley, wheat, rice, and oats, until the end of the year are planned to be introduced in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.
As noted by the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, due to a snow-deficient winter and a late spring, agricultural production in the country faced challenges. Extremely hot weather and insufficient precipitation led to a decrease in the yield of fodder crops.
According to the analysis of data from the district agricultural development authorities, the volume of fodder crop production this year has decreased compared to the previous year.
The Ministry of Agriculture further added that in recent years, Kyrgyzstan has experienced a shortage of fodder. Farmers are forced to use pastures for additional livestock feeding.
The forecast for fodder production by the end of 2023 is estimated at 3.8 million tons. It is expected that the export restrictions will be lifted after 2023.
