BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 4. More than 141.875 million passengers were transported in Kyrgyzstan from January through March 2024, which is 4.6 percent, or 6.2 million people, more than the 135.699 million in the corresponding months of 2023, Trend reports.
In March of this year, compared to March 2023, there was an increase of 3.3 million people, or 3.6 percent, in passenger transportation. Additionally, compared to February 2024, there was an increase of 7.2 percent, according to Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee.
The majority of passengers (over 95 percent) were transported by road transport (buses, minibuses, and taxis), with an increase of 8.6 million passengers, or 6.8 percent, compared to January–March 2023.
Additionally, 50,900 passengers were transported by rail, while 266,000 passengers were carried by air transport.
Overall passenger turnover across all modes of transport from January through March 2024 reached 2.38 billion passenger kilometers, which is 95.9 million passenger kilometers, or 4.2 percent, higher than in the first quarter of 2023 (2.284 billion passenger kilometers).
