BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 5. The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will assist Kyrgyzstan in enhancing its post-harvest management system, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Processing Industry, during an official visit to South Korea by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, a Protocol of Discussion was signed between the ministry and KOICA for the implementation of the "Project to Improve Access to Agricultural Products by Establishing a Post-Harvest Management System in Kyrgyzstan".
The project, aimed at supporting Kyrgyzstan's agriculture sector, will focus on improving infrastructure for the storage and processing of agricultural products, enhancing food security and availability.
The initiative, with a budget of $6 million, will run from 2024 through 2027. It is expected to significantly improve post-harvest management in Kyrgyzstan, creating new opportunities for farmers and agricultural producers.
A key component of the project will be the construction and modernization of Trade-Logistics Centers (TLCs), which are crucial for increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products in both domestic and international markets. Over 70 percent of the total funding will be allocated to the development of these centers, ensuring efficient operation and the long-term growth of the country's agricultural infrastructure.
