BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. The Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) provides assistance to Turkmenistan in order to simplify trade procedures, a source in the BOMCA 10 told Trend.
The organization noted that within the framework of the tenth phase of the BOMCA program, a seminar was held in Turkmenistan that assisted national authorities in assessing trade facilitation measures.
"This seminar also provided assistance in capacity-building activities in the areas covered by the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreement on trade facilitation and the agreement on the application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures," said the source.
The organization stressed that within the framework of the seminar, experts from the Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia provided assistance in developing recommendations and a draft action plan on trade facilitation measures in order to comply with the provisions of the WTO agreement.
"The recommended measures have been developed on the basis of the results of legal and trade analysis in accordance with the provisions of the WTO agreement. Furthermore, it is expected that the BOMCA program will provide further assistance in improving trade facilitation measures in Central Asia, including Turkmenistan," BOMCA said.
It should be noted that the Border Management Program in Central Asia is sponsored by the EU and implemented by the UN Development Program with the help of teams from five countries subordinate to BOMCA and the CADAP partner program.
