BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. The EU Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) supports Turkmenistan by improving the efficiency of customs administration through a shift to electronic administration, digitalization, a source in the BOMCA 10 told Trend.
According to the source, the program also promotes the expansion of bilateral, multilateral and Central Asian, and EU cooperation in the fields of customs, veterinary and phytosanitary training, as well as the improvement of customs, phytosanitary and veterinary checks.
At the same time, it was added that border management initiatives in Turkmenistan are related to such goals as enhancing of approximation and harmonization of national legal frameworks with the HACCAP standards, Codex Alimentarius and International Plant Protection Convention, WTO and WCO standards and OIE Terrestrial Code and Aquatic Code.
Meanwhile, the BOMCA 10 project is implemented by a Consortium of the border management agencies of the selected member states of the EU and International Center of Migration Police Development, led by the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia.
Overall objective of BOMCA 10 - to enhance security, stability, and sustainable growth in the region, as well as support cross-border cooperation and improve living conditions for people living in border areas of Central Asia.
