TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 21. Uzbekneftegaz JSC has started importing RON-100 high-octane gasoline from Russia, Trend reports.
As per Uzbekneftegaz, the sale of Russian fuel is carried out in Uzbekistan’s city of Tashkent at the gas stations of UNG Petro LLC, owned by Uzbekneftegaz.
The retail price of RON-100 gasoline stands at 15,800 Uzbek soums ($1.3) per liter.
Meanwhile, Uzbekneftegaz JSC began importing RON-80 gasoline from Russian Gazpromneft, Tatneft, and a number of private entities in January 2023. The supply of fuel during the winter period amounted to 100,000 tons.
Moreover, in August 2023, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed relevant departments and companies to import 120,000 tons of gasoline by the end of 2023 to ensure stable fuel supplies in the autumn-winter period.
In early October, during Mirziyoyev's visit to Russia, agreements were signed between the governments of the two countries on expanding cooperation in the field of oil supplies.
In addition, the Ministries of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation signed an agreement on the supply of petroleum products by rail.
Overall, the total capacity of Uzbekistan's oil refineries amounts to 10 million tons. In recent years, the country has regularly experienced an acute shortage of gasoline and other types of petroleum products.
As per official statistics, oil production in Uzbekistan increased by 1.8 percent to 787,800 tons by the end of 2022, while gasoline production went up to 1.26 million tons, indicating an increase of 11.5 percent. Additionally, the volume of diesel fuel production increased by 5.9 percent and amounted to 800,100 tons.
