TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 8. The number of tourists from Uzbekistan travelling abroad amounted to 2.2 million from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure increased by 35.5 percent (569,200 people) compared to the same period last year.
Out of all countries, the citizens of Uzbekistan traveled the most to Kyrgyzstan 995,300 people.
Tajikistan ranked second with 449,800 people, followed by Kazakhstan - 322,500 people, Saudi Arabia - 100,200 people, Russia - 86,500 people; Türkiye - 63,900 people, the UAE - 55,700 people, Kuwait - 16,500 people, Egypt - 13,500 people, South Korea - 8,300 people and other countries - 59,500 people.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan hit a whopping figure of 2.8 million from January through May 2024. This indicator increased by 248,200 people, or 9.6 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Out of all the countries, Tajikistan ranked first with a whopping 871,500 people who visited Uzbekistan from January through May 2024. Kyrgyzstan came in second with 857,000 people, followed by Kazakhstan (498,200 people), Russia (289,600 people), and Turkmenistan (53,800 people).
