BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is actively supporting Uzbekistan's digital transformation by investing in the IT Park, a source from the agency told Trend.

According to the source, a recent agreement has allocated $4.5 million to bolster the IT Park's capabilities and contribute to the broader Digital Uzbekistan - 2030 strategy.

“The investment focuses on several key areas, including infrastructure enhancement, human capital development, and ecosystem development. KOICA will upgrade the IT Park's central office with advanced computer equipment and network infrastructure, enabling the facility to effectively support its expansion and regional growth. In addition, the agency is committed to improving digital literacy and IT skills among ICT professionals across Uzbekistan. This will be achieved through training programs led by Korean experts, which will include high-level ICT management training and internship opportunities in South Korea,” the source noted.

The representative of the agency emphasized that KOICA aims to foster collaboration between IT Park residents and leading Korean IT companies, facilitating technology transfer, joint software development, and IT services outsourcing to optimize costs and improve competitiveness in global markets.

“By strengthening the IT Park's infrastructure, cultivating a skilled workforce, and promoting industry partnerships, KOICA is significantly contributing to Uzbekistan's goal of becoming a regional leader in digital innovation and economic growth,” the source added.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) implements projects of gratuitous assistance to developing countries. The organization has about 50 representative offices in foreign countries. Currently, major projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan in cooperation with KOICA, within the framework of which many local specialists, including medical workers, are interning in Korea.
