TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 9. In the year 2024, Uzbekistan sent forth a bountiful harvest of 176,200 tons of cabbage, a green treasure valued at $49.8 million, flourishing in the gardens of trade.
The data obtained by Trend from the country’s Statistics Agency shows that the recorded volume grew by 81.2 percent compared to the same period last year (97,200 tons in January-November 2023).
Concurrently, the volume of cabbage exports decreased to 6,400 tons in December 2024 compared to 12,600 tons recorded in November 2024.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 2.03 million tons of fruits and vegetables worth $1.54 billion in 2024. This figure increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year (1.75 million tons in 2023).
Furthermore, Uzbekistan will create a dedicated council for the development of dehkan farms (small-scale family farms, focused on subsistence agriculture and local markets) and household agriculture.
The new council will oversee public training, the supply of seeds and seedlings, as well as the processing and export of agricultural products. Under its management, the UzAgroStar holding will be established, with nine state banks launching 15 specialized companies focused on fruit and vegetable cultivation.
