TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 3. Uzbekistan announced a $200 million investment in the development of a seed production and nursery system in the Yukorichirchik district of Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The news follows a meeting at which Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev viewed a presentation on the development of international cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The project will adopt successful practices from China, aiming to boost the production of cotton, wheat, rice, corn, grapes, and fruit crops. This initiative will introduce modern agricultural techniques and drones to enhance productivity from seedling production to harvesting and processing.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan is set to send 200 young people to Italian universities in 2024 to study agricultural sciences, building on Italy's successful experience in agricultural education.
The University of Bologna, a key player in training specialists across Europe, will be a primary destination. In addition, a partnership with Tushia University aims to train 30 food technologists annually through grants, further bolstering Uzbekistan’s agricultural workforce.
