BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. Iran's imports of trucks with trailers increased by 187 percent in value and 225 percent in quantity during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's customs administration shows that Iran imported 2,067 trucks with trailers worth $245 million during the six months.
Iran's Customs Administration reports that according to the decree of Iran's Cabinet of Ministers in 2023, the country allowed the import of trucks whose production has passed less than five years to modernize trucks and trailers.
In Iran, there are a whopping 435,000 trucks hitting the road, with 555,000 drivers behind the wheel.
To note, over 555 million tons of goods were transported between 31 provinces of Iran by trucks during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
