BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 10. The quantity of flared gas at the plants of Iran's South Pars Gas Company will be reduced by 5.29 million cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2025), the executive director of Iran's South Pars Gas Company Gholam-Abbas Hosseini told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, 1.3 bcm of flared gas will be collected in this way per year.
Hosseini noted that by the end of the sixth month of next year (September 21, 2025), the amount of flared gas at the company will be reduced to 3 million cubic meters daily. Thus, the company will collect 2 bcm of flare gas per year.
The official stated that at the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024), the amount of flared gas at the company's plants was more than 8.7 million cubic meters per day. Currently, this figure is 7 million cubic meters per day.
To note, the rich gas produced at the South Pars gas field is processed at the South Pars company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 12 processing plants.
South Pars Gas Company obtains 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars gas field. A total of 580 million cubic meters of gas is processed and transferred to the country's gas network. The company also produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur daily.
The South Pars gas field (North Doma in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. This field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
