BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. Essential goods imports (such as wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar, and oil) through Iranian ports have increased by six percent during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), Trend reports via Port and Maritime Organization (PMO) of Iran.
The data shows that around 20.8 million tons of essential goods were unloaded at Iranian ports during the 11 months.
Meanwhile, Iran imported about 2.38 million tons of barley during this period, which marks an increase of 43 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the same period, the total amount of corn unloaded at the country’s ports reached 9.2 million tons, while wheat totaled 901,000 tons.
In addition, 5.88 million tons of soybeans were unloaded at Iranian ports, reflecting a 43 percent rise compared to last year’s figures.
During the same period, around 192,000 tons of rice were unloaded, which marks an 88 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Sugar imports through Iranian ports amounted to 1.22 million tons, double the amount recorded during the same period in the previous year.
The volume of edible oil unloaded was recorded at 1.02 million tons.
Iran's non-oil product imports reached a total value of approximately $63.6 billion, amounting to around 35 million tons, in the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025). The value of non-oil product imports has increased by 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year, although the weight has decreased by 2.6 percent.
