BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9. Transit through the Bashmaq customs post in the western part of Iran's Kurdistan province during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025) grew by 55 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), Faramarz Omidi, the head of province customs, told local media, Trend reports.
Omidi mentioned that over the past 11 months, goods valued at $4.07 billion, totaling 3.36 million tons, were transited through the Bashmaq customs post.
According to him, about $1.57 billion worth of goods, totaling 2.69 million tons, left the country through the Bashmaq customs post during this period.
He further added that $2.5 billion worth of goods, amounting to 670,000 tons, entered the country through the same customs post.
Iran saw a total of 20.3 million tons of goods transit through the country, marking a 26 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
