BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 26. Non-oil exports from Iran's western Zanjan Province reached a value of $613 million, amounting to 211,000 tons in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), Zeyn-ul-Abedin Ganj-Khanlou, director-general of the province's customs department, told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Ganj-Khanlou, non-oil exports from Zanjan saw a 31 percent increase in value compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), although the weight of exports declined by 10 percent.
He noted that the main exports from Zanjan included zinc ingots, transformers, and paper. These products were primarily exported to Türkiye, Iraq, and the UAE.
The customs official further stated that in the last Iranian year, Zanjan imported products worth $477 million, totaling 235,000 tons. This marked a 12 percent decrease in value but a 1 percent increase in weight compared to the previous year.
Ganj-Khanlou added that the province mainly imported raw materials, semi-finished goods, and other products from countries such as Türkiye, the UAE, and Germany.
To note, Iran's Customs Administration data shows that the country's total exports of non-oil products amounted to 141 million tons worth $53.4 billion during 11 months. Compared to the same period last year, non-oil exports increased by 19 percent in value and 12.6 percent in weight.
The administration data also shows that Iran imported 35 million tons of products worth $63.6 billion during 11 months, meaning an increase of 5.6 percent in value but a decrease of 2.6 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
