More than 152.8 million liters of liquid fuel were consumed in Iran on daily basis from March 20 to June 15, the oil ministry's SHANA news agency reported.

The figure includes consumption of gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and fuel oil.

Some 72.5 million liters of gasoline were consumed per day in the country during the period, 1.2 percent more, year on year.

Totally 67 million liters of diesel also were consumed per day (13.5 percent less year on year) in the period, of that amount 6.7 million liters were consumed in power plants.

Also 4 million liters of kerosene (1.9 percent more), and 9.3 million liters of fuel oil (63 percent decrease) were consumed in the 3-month period.

The volume of fuel oil consumed in the power plants hit 6.9 million liters per day in the mentioned period.

Iran eyes to export 15 million cubic meters of diesel per day during the current fiscal year(started on March 20). The country's daily diesel export stands at about 9 million liters.

Iran used to feed its power plants with diesel and fuel oil but later replaced them with gas, which caused the country to save liquid fuel, including diesel.

Iran stopped diesel imports in 1998, but then became a net diesel importer in 2005 until early 2015.
