BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. A total of 20 mining enterprises will be commissioned in Iran's South Khorasan Province in the upcoming days, Ahmad Aryafar, chairman of the province's Industry, Mining, and Trade Organization, told reporters, Trend reports.
He mentioned that getting these enterprises off the ground has set them back 25 trillion rials (around $42.6 million).
Aryafar pointed out that the launch of these enterprises will create job opportunities for 968 individuals.
The official noted that during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 to December 20, 2024), licenses were granted for the commissioning of 34 industrial enterprises in South Khorasan Province, creating jobs for 1,042 people. Additionally, 30 mining enterprises were commissioned, providing employment for 271 people.
Aryafar also mentioned that in the previous Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), 570 kilograms of gold were produced in South Khorasan Province. In the current year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), it is expected that 750 kilograms of gold will be produced in the province. Over the first nine months, 600 kilograms of gold have already been produced.
To note, in South Khorasan Province, there are 804 ore deposits
in operation. Their reserves total over seven billion tons, which
represents roughly 13 percent of Iran's ore deposits.
The province pulls out 57 varieties of ore minerals, such as coal,
precious metals, iron ore, copper, dolomite, travertine, and
more.
