BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Iran recorded a positive trade balance of $41.5 million in its transactions with free trade zones in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025), Trend reports citing the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme Council of Free Trade and Special Economic Zones.
The data shows that Iran’s trade turnover with its free trade zones reached approximately $101 million during the reporting period. Imports through the zones amounted to $59.2 million.
Specifically, the Maku Free Trade Zone saw $7.5 million in exports and $2.2 million in imports. The Chabahar Free Trade Zone recorded $800,000 in exports and $13.3 million in imports.
The Arvand Free Trade Zone registered $20 million in exports and $6 million in imports. The Kish Free Trade Zone accounted for $22.3 million in exports and $24.9 million in imports.
Exports from the Qeshm Free Trade Zone reached $28.8 million, with imports totaling $4.4 million. The Anzali Free Trade Zone posted $400,000 in exports and $4.8 million in imports, while the Araz Free Trade Zone handled $21 million in exports and $3.6 million in imports.
According to the Iranian Customs Administration, Iran exported 8.95 million tons of non-oil products worth $2.94 billion in the first month, a decrease of 8 percent in value and 8.3 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Non-oil imports into Iran during this time stood at 1.8 million tons worth $2.85 billion—representing a 2.3 percent increase in value and a 26.4 percent decrease in weight year-on-year.
