Four policemen injured in Libya attack

Four policemen were injured Sunday in a bomb attack on a police station in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, the official Libyan news agency reported.

The attack also destroyed three cars and partially damaged the station and neighbouring buildings, added the agency, DPA reported.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the assault was carried out by two unknown persons who were driving in a green Korean-made car," an unnamed security official told the agency.

Benghazi, the birthplace of an uprising that toppled the regime of Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi last year, has recently seen a series of deadly attacks.

The worst occurred in September when the US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed in an attack blamed on radical Islamist militiamen.
