Police in Hong Kong on Monday were investigating a drug-dealing syndicate after 300 kilograms of cocaine was found in a village house in the city's biggest seizure of the drug in years, DPA reported.
The cocaine with an estimated street value of 38 million US dollars was found Sunday in the house in the territory's rural Fanling area after the building had been under surveillance by police for two days.
The cocaine was found piled up in boxes inside the house after police forced their way in to look for a man who was reported missing after telling his family he had gone there to collect money.
A police spokesman said Monday that the investigation into the drugs seizure was continuing. The search for the missing man was also still under way, he said.
Police and customs officials have made numerous smaller seizures of cocaine in recent years, usually smuggled into Hong Kong from China and then sold through bars and nightclubs.
