ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. The Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan has released data on automobile production in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
According to the "Kazakhstan Automobile Union" (KАО), the top five most popular brands from January to September 2024 (including exports) in Kazakhstan were: Hyundai (29,120 units), Chevrolet (19,502 units), Kia (18,171 units), Jac (9,353 units), and Jetour (6,851 units). By model, the most produced were: Chevrolet Cobalt (16,545 units), Hyundai Tucson (14,902 units), Kia Sportage (6,993 units), Hyundai Elantra (4,146 units), and Kia Sorento (3,467 units).
Additionally, Kostanay (Allur) produced 55,122 units of equipment during the first nine months of 2024, a decrease of 16.2 percent, according to the "Kazakhstan Automobile Union." The production of 29,583 passenger and commercial vehicles in Almaty (Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Almaty) decreased by 21.9 percent. Semey (SemAZ, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan) produced 3,933 units of commercial equipment, a 36.1 percent increase. The Karaganda region (QazTehna) produced 1,008 units of equipment, an increase of 1.5 percent. Kokshetau (KAMAZ Engineering) produced 812 units of commercial equipment, a decrease of 13.7 percent.
This year has seen a significant decrease in automobile production. In light of these negative results, the President of the Association of Legal Entities "Kazakhstan Automobile Union," Anar Makasheva, explained that the reduction in production volumes is a short-term reflection of logistical issues and challenges with equipment, raw materials, and component supplies through neighboring countries. Nevertheless, the automotive industry continues to develop, with manufacturers committing to deepening technological operations in small-scale production.
It is worth noting that production volumes have decreased by 2.1 percent compared to the results from September 2023.
The automotive industry in Kazakhstan began with the release of the first vehicle, the "NIVA," in 2003. At that time, production volumes were only a few thousand units (with a peak of 4,000 units in 2010). Imports occupied the majority of the country's automotive market.
