TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 2. In 2024, the "Uzbekcoal" company of Uzbekistan hit the ground running, surpassing the milestone of 6.7 million tons of coal mined for the first time, Trend reports.
It became known that significant contributions to this result
were made by the branches of the "Angren Coal Deposit" (over 5.5
million tons), "Apartak Coal Deposit" (over 1.2 million tons), and
the "Underground Coal Mining Shaft."
This signifies a considerable escalation relative to antecedent
years: 3,807,600 tons (2019), 3,869,400 tons (2020), 4,781,200 tons
(2021), 5,073,900 tons (2022), and 5,836,000 tons (2023).
It is important to highlight that the extraction of coal resources
in Uzbekistan is predominantly concentrated in three key geological
formations: Angren, which is characterized by lignite deposits,
alongside the Shargun and Baysun sites, known for their bituminous
coal reserves.
Joint Stock Company "Uzbekcoal" operates as the singular entity encapsulating the coal extraction sector within the national framework. The primary operations encompass geological exploration, extraction, logistics, warehousing, processing, and commercialization of coal commodities, alongside a spectrum of ancillary minerals.
