ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 24. Kazakhstan plans to strengthen measures to protect the organic market, consumer rights, combat greenwashing, and improve control over organic products in the country, Trend reports.
The Project Office convened, featuring the Deputy Chairman of
the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic
of Kazakhstan "Atameken", Yerbol Yeseneyev, along with
representatives from various industry associations.
The agenda centered around safeguarding the organic market,
upholding consumer rights, and supporting honest producers. Meeting
participants also underscored the necessity of adhering to
standards and deliberated on the repercussions for failing to
comply with organic product regulations. With the increasing
appetite for organic products in the worldwide market, the
challenge of cultivating organic agricultural grains has taken
center stage.
“Last year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Law "On
the Production and Circulation of Organic Products." "We must
systematize the work in this area at the Project Office based at
the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, in collaboration with state
bodies and other interested institutions. Our goal is to provide
the population with clean and organic products," said Yerbol
Yeseneyev.
The Chairman of the Technical Committee 100 "Organic Products" for
Standardization, Berdibek Bulashev, emphasized the importance of
timely informing entrepreneurs and retail networks about regulatory
acts.
The Ministries of Health and Agriculture of Kazakhstan are also concerned with combating greenwashing. This was stated by representatives of the authorized bodies participating in the meeting. During the discussion of greenwashing, participants also addressed several problematic issues. It was decided to strengthen public control to further advance work in this direction.
Organic agriculture has significant potential in the global market due to the growing demand for eco-friendly products. Kazakhstan has every chance of becoming the largest producer of organic products in Central Asia.
The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of
Kazakhstan "Atameken"is actively developing this area. The
government of Kazakhstan instructed the National Chamber of
Entrepreneurs to establish the Project Office, which began its work
in 2023 under the name "Organic."
The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan
"Atameken" is a non-profit organization created to strengthen the
negotiating power of businesses with the Government of the Republic
of Kazakhstan and state authorities.
