BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. As many as 62 tons of cargo worth $15.5 million were transported via postal shipments in Azerbaijan from January through March of this year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee reveals the value's increase by $530,000 (3.5 percent) and the volume's growth by one ton (1.3 percent) compared to the same period in 2024 ($15 million and 61 tons).
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 1.6 tons of cargo worth $738,000 via postal transport, marking an increase of $147,000 (24.9 percent) in value and 0.3 tons (22.5 percent) in volume compared to the same period last year ($591,000 and 1.3 tons).
At the same time, during the period, Azerbaijan imported 60.8 tons of cargo worth $14.8 million via postal shipments, up $382,000 (2.6 percent) in value and 1.1 tons (1.8 percent) in volume compared to the first quarter of 2024 ($14.4 million and 59.7 tons).
Azerbaijan's external trade dynamics exhibited a robust
expansion of over 24.3 percent, culminating in a cumulative
turnover of $12 billion during the first quarter of 2025, spanning
January to March.
The export trajectory experienced an uptick of 6.7 percent,
translating to an increment of $401.75 million, culminating in a
total valuation of $6.4 billion. Conversely, the import sector
witnessed a substantial escalation of 52.6 percent, equating to an
increase of $1.9 billion, thereby aggregating to a total of $5.7
billion.
In the interim, the international trade equilibrium exhibited a
favorable surplus amounting to $722.9 million throughout the
reporting timeframe, which represents a decrement of $5.1 billion,
or a factor of 3.1 reduction compared to the corresponding
timeframe of the previous fiscal year.
