ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 22. As part of the implementation of the Low-Carbon Development Program, JSC NC "KazMunayGas," together with LLP "KMG-Engineering," has developed a digital Hydrogen Atlas, Trend reports.
“The goal is to digitize the analyzed data on water resources in the western regions of Kazakhstan and the potential of renewable energy sources (RES): electricity generation from solar and wind, and other technical and economic parameters that are important to consider when producing renewable hydrogen,” noted the company KazMunayGas.
In 2024, the scope of evaluation and digitization covered the Western Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Aktobe, and Mangistau regions. The Atlas consists of major sections - water resources, RES, and hydrogen cost.
The company underscored that this work is an important step toward creating an integrated hydrogen platform, which could serve as a foundation for future projects in the field of hydrogen energy.
The Atlas allows for the analysis of various scenarios and possibilities for hydrogen production in the country with minimal environmental impact.
KMG (KazMunayGas) will continue its work in this direction, and
in the future, the Atlas will cover other regions of the
country.
The Digital Hydrogen Atlas is a concept that represents a
collection of data, models, and maps related to hydrogen energy and
technologies, as well as its application in various industries.
More broadly, it can be a database providing information on the
production, transportation, storage, and use of hydrogen, its role
in energy transformation, and its potential to combat climate
change.
