ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 29. Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position in international markets by actively developing key cross-border hubs such as Khorgos, Caspian, and Eurasian nodes, said Bauyrzhan Bolganisov, Director of the Export Promotion Department at the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at a briefing of the Central Communications Service, Trend reports.
According to him, in 2024, the country also expanded its network of trade representations, opening new offices in Türkiye, China, the UAE, India, and Iran, which will allow for more effective development of foreign economic relations with these countries.
"Despite positive changes, Kazakhstan faces several challenges, including high transportation costs, logistical difficulties, and issues with product certification to meet international quality standards," noted Bauyrzhan Bolganisov.
In his opinion, to overcome these obstacles, the Ministry of Trade and Integration is actively working to improve the business environment and enhance international certification of Kazakhstani goods.
"We continue to strengthen our country as a reliable and competitive exporter in international markets by developing processing industries, increasing localization of production, and expanding the geography of our trade relations," he added.
By the end of 2024, Kazakhstan's trade turnover reached $141.4 billion, which is a 1.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. According to the speaker, exports of Kazakhstani goods rose to $81.6 billion, which is 3.2 percent higher than in 2023. At the same time, imports amounted to $59.8 billion, a 1 percent decrease from the previous year.
