TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 2. Uzbekistan brought in close to 10,000 electric vehicles in the first five months of 2025, showing that the winds of change are blowing towards cleaner transportation, Trend reports, citing the National Statistics Committee.
The nation executed an importation of 18,387 passenger vehicles
within the January to May timeframe, with electric propulsion
systems comprising over 50% of this aggregate at 9,789 units. The
People's Republic of China continues to dominate the export
landscape, provisioning a substantial preponderance of these
automotive units, trailed by a consortium of nations such as the
Republic of Korea, the Republic of India, Japan, and the United
States of America.
Concurrently, Uzbekistan’s internal automotive sector is
maintaining robust momentum, yielding a total output of 153,814
passenger vehicles during the specified timeframe, excluding niche
automotive units. This concurrent escalation in both importation
and domestic manufacturing underscores the burgeoning capacity and
consumer demand within the nation’s automotive industry.
The escalating proportion of electric vehicles within Uzbekistan’s
import matrix highlights the country’s strategic alignment with
environmental sustainability paradigms and energy optimization
frameworks, while simultaneously enhancing trade synergies with
pivotal stakeholders such as China, a preeminent entity in the
electric vehicle production ecosystem.
