ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 7. The Akim (Governor)
of Atyrau Region, Serik Shapkenov, discussed with investors the
implementation of a project for the construction of a new bitumen
plant, Trend
reports via the Akimat (regional administration) of Atyrau Region,
Kazakhstan.
According to the information, the production will reduce costs,
ensure stable supplies, and expand the range of road construction
materials.
Serik Shapkenov held a meeting with representatives of the
investors - Yossef Bokris, CEO of Serbi Technologies, and Kairbek
Oldagaliyev, CEO of Atyrau-Bitum. The parties discussed the
prospects of creating a joint venture between Serbi Technologies
and Atyrau-Bitum for the construction of a new bitumen plant in the
region.
“Launching our production will significantly reduce logistics
costs, stabilize prices, and ensure uninterrupted supply to
builders. Bitumen production is planned to be carried out using
natural bitumen-containing rocks, kerosene, which can be used in
road construction without additional processing. This will reduce
production costs, improve environmental sustainability, and reduce
dependence on petroleum-based bitumen,” the Akimat stated.
The third phase of the project includes the release of a wide
range of products, including keromineral mixtures for road
construction, road bitumen and mastic, paint materials, and rolled
waterproofing materials.
In October 2023, during a visit to the People's Republic of China
by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, an agreement
was signed between KazMunayGas (KMG) and CITIC Group, which
provides for the implementation of the Caspi Bitum expansion
project in 2024-2025 to supply the domestic market of Kazakhstan
with locally produced bitumen.
