The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry has submitted a draft law on cooperation to parliament, Deputy Agriculture Minister Bahram Aliyev said.

"It is expected that this project will be considered in the near future," Aliyev said.
According to him, favorable climatic conditions allow Azerbaijan to develop different spheres of agriculture, which in turn opens opportunities for investment. Grain farming is a priority in agricultural production.

"In 2009, grain production hit 3 million tons, which covers the demand for these products. In 2010, we were unable to achieve this level of production due to bad weather. Production hit 2 million tons, while the rest of the volume was imported," he said.

Aliyev said animal husbandry is also developing. In 2010, 715 heads of pedigree cattle were brought to the country from Europe, which are well adapted to the local climatic conditions.
