Baku port transports over 1 mln. tons of cargo in Jan.-Feb.

In Jan.-Feb. Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1,100 tons of various cargo, which is similar with the same period of 2011, a source at the port told Trend today.
In 2011 the port transshipped 6.7 million tons of various cargo, or 16 percent more than the same period of 2010.

According to a source, about 650,000 tons of the total volume transported in January-February, fell to ferry cargo, or 6 percent more than in January-February 2011.

The main dry cargo terminal of the port transshipped 230,000 tons of cargo this period, which is 77 percent more than in Jan.-Feb. 2011.

In Jan.-Feb. the port transshipped 900 containers, which is 65 percent less than the figure of 2011.

According to the source, the port transported 9,230 containers in 2011, which is 41 percent less than the same period of 2010. The decrease is stipulated by the reduced volume of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan to Central Asia.
