BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. Iran’s non-oil exports through customs of Kurdistan Province in the west of the country increased by 23 percent in value and 15 percent in volume during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, an official of the Kurdistan Province Customs Office, Faramarz Omidi said, Trend reports.
According to Omidi, 1.22 million tons of non-oil products worth $615 million were exported via the customs of Kurdistan Province in nine months. Of the mentioned volume, 825,000 tons, worth $376 million were the province’s own goods, the rest were products of other provinces.
He also mentioned that the main export items were agricultural products, metal products, ceramics, carpets, etc.
The official added that the province’s goods were mainly exported to Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, the UAE, Russia, and others.
Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.
The latest data from IRICA shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value, but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
