ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 21. Kazakhstan is working on increasing flour exports through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, said Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, responding to a request from Majilis (the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan) deputies, Trend reports.
“Active work is underway to enter the markets of the Middle East and Africa. For this purpose, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is used, with subsequent shipments to Iran, Middle Eastern countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, etc.), Georgia, and further to Europe. On the Kazakhstan section of the TITR, a multimodal digital platform called Digital Trade Corridor is operating. In 2024, integration was completed with the IT systems of the railways of Azerbaijan and Georgia, and integration with the Turkish railways is ongoing. This has allowed the transit time of cargo along the route to be reduced from 25 to 13 days. By 2027, it is planned to increase the corridor’s throughput capacity from 6 to 10 million tons per year,” said Zhumangarin.
Within the flour milling sector of Kazakhstan, approximately 270 entities operate, boasting an aggregate production capacity nearing 9 million tons annually. Data indicates that the yearly output of flour production surpasses 3 million tons, effectively doubling the domestic consumption levels and facilitating a robust framework for the establishment of export supplies.
