Oil transit via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. A total of 32.13 million tons of oil were transported through main oil pipelines passing through the territory of Azerbaijan from January through October 2024.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan (SSC) indicates that this figure is 3 percent less than the volume of oil transported from January through October 2023.

Of the said volume, 75.3 percent of the oil was transported through the strategic Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.

The volume of oil pumped through BTC during the reporting period amounted to 24.18 million tons, which is 3.9 percent less than last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan accounted for 81.5 percent, or 19.7 million tons, of the oil transported via the BTC pipeline. Meanwhile, oil shipments from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan made up 18.5 percent, totaling over 4.4 million tons, reflecting a 4.8 percent increase compared to the previous period.
