BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. SOCAR’s STAR Refinery in Türkiye significantly ramped up jet fuel production in March 2025, reaching 116,978.86 tons, Trend reports via Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
This marks an increase of more than 209 percent compared to 37,804.26 tons in the same month of 2024.
The STAR Refinery imported over 821,588 tons of crude oil in March 2025, down from 931,834 tons in the same month of 2024.
Despite a year-on-year decrease in crude oil imports, the STAR Refinery maintained steady output across a broad spectrum of refined products in March 2025. The refinery produced approximately 587,000 tons of diesel fuel, including nearly 11,000 tons containing biodiesel.
Production also included around 129,600 tons of naphtha, and 65,200 tons of petroleum coke. Additionally, the facility yielded 31,100 tons of refinery gas, 21,200 tons of LPG, 11,400 tons of heavy vacuum gas oil, and over 5,700 tons of high-sulfur diesel fuel, along with other products.
The STAR refinery began operations on October 19, 2018. It ensures the integration of oil refining and petrochemicals and represents the largest investment in Türkiye’s real sector.
Since late 2024, the refinery’s oil processing capacity has reached 13 million tons per year. STAR produces various petroleum products, including diesel, naphtha, and aviation fuel. Its annual naphtha output almost fully meets the feedstock needs of the Petkim petrochemical complex.
