BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. The STAR oil refinery, owned by Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye, imported over 932,104 tonnes of crude oil in April 2025, up from 863,654 tonnes in April 2024, marking a 7.9 percent increase, Trend reports citing data from Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
During the reporting period, the refinery produced approximately 511,695 tonnes of diesel fuel, including nearly 17,034 tonnes containing biodiesel.
Production also included around 179,440 tonnes of jet fuel, 131,847 tonnes of naphtha, and 61,568 tonnes of petroleum coke. In addition, the refinery produced 18,910 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and over 22,646 tonnes of high-sulfur diesel.
The STAR refinery began operations on October 19, 2018. It integrates refining and petrochemical production and is the largest real sector investment in Türkiye’s economy.
Since the end of 2024, the refinery’s crude oil processing capacity has reached 13 million tonnes per year. STAR produces various petroleum products, including diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel. Its annual naphtha output almost fully covers the feedstock needs of the Petkim petrochemical complex.
