Corporate information network will be introduced in Azerbaijan's Azerpocht state-owned postal company as a part of the Development of Financial Services project until October, Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technology Ministry Postal Department head Novruz Mammadov said.

"The system composes various modules and over 100 Baku post offices have shifted to this system as a part of the first module (computerizing business accounting)," Mammadov said.

He said the work on the second module, in other words, on money transfers is nearing completion. The third module on postal services is being introduced at the moment.

Azerpocht will offer financial bank services in the capital and later in the regions as soon as the system is introduced.

The postal financial and computerized system has been designed by consortium of HP, Colvir and Sinam.

The system includes numerous modules such as payment, deposit, treasury, assets and liabilities management, management of liquidity, information management system, following postal deliveries, including international and computerizing postal services.

The project Development of Financial Services, which aims to upgrade the country's postal system, costs $17.5 million. Around $12.25 million will be issued by the World Bank and the remaining part by the Azerbaijani government.
